Not many games force you to reflect upon your choices in your real life and give you cause to wonder the possibilities if maybe one made different choice whether such choices would affect one's character.Īlter Ego fills me with nostalgia because the gaming industry back in the 80s was full of creativity. The vignettes were well-written, contained drama, humour and pathos in equal measure. it is extremely hard, if not impossible, to live one's life as an utter bum. I found it utterly compelling and quite thought provoking, even though it was quite linear and 'coerced' you into certain actions i.e. I remember this game when it was first released as it was one of the games from my C64 days that I never played and always wished to play.įast foward almost 20 years later, and after using a C64 emulator (*cough*), I finally had the chance to play Alter Ego.
